Using text and inspiration from Rachel L. Carson's 'Undersea' this book combines hand drawn illustrations with type setting inspired by whale falls and their descent into the depths of the ocean. The design uses continuous motion in combination with the text that continues between and across spreads to create this constant sense of motion as the reader descends into the still dark depths where text is obscured and the crushing depths of the ocean echo in the uncomfortable typesetting.
